I am going to introduce an event I went to which happened a while ago. The event was about an orientation for the first years of Department of Applied Chemistry which was held on May 21 (Sat) and May 22 (Sun) at Karuizawa. As expected, Karuizawa kosei seminar house was beautiful and amazing.
Students staying overnight for two days can learn from Department of Applied Chemistry such as making new friends. Moreover, opportunity like group meetings with teachers through sports event allows more interactions between students and teachers. The top image shows the winner of the tug of war which is the teacher’s team.
The management was run by students from the second year to Master’s first year, who are members of Department of Applied Chemistry committee. It was refreshing and interesting to know it was not run by Nagoya University.
On May 28 (Sat), a General Meeting of Applied Chemistry was held. It was operated by the so-called OB / OG society of the Department of Applied Chemistry, Waseda. Department of Applied chemistry is the oldest department in Waseda and it will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year. The alumni society called Oka-kai is very solid, and we have established a meeting with graduates. I think this society, “securing Human Resources” is the bonus point for Waseda.
