It’s been four years since we started our lab. This year’s graduation is for the second and fourth generation students. Last year, it was a small graduation ceremony because all the first-generation students went on to doctoral programs, but this year there are four master’s graduates, so it’s really a graduation ceremony. A Ph.D. student, Mr. Matsushita, also completed his doctoral course today (March 21), and we said goodbye to colleagues who had been working with us for three years.
If you look closely at the members of this year’s graduating class, you can see that they are very unique. Some students may feel that they will be fine in society (research is not a problem), but I hope that they will be active in the corporate world based on the pride that they have put in the most research at Waseda.
This year, due to the influence of COVID-19, we had to abstain from many things, and we didn’t have a graduation research presentation. It’s a situation that will never happen again: no more reminiscing, no more catching up, no more college graduations.
Since it was not enough for everything to be gone, we gave gifts and colored papers to the graduates at lunchtime (all photos are with Tanaka).
