Title: Curiosity, Serendipity and Logicality in Organic Synthesis
Professor Krishna P. Kaliappan is currently a Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay). He received his PhD in Organic Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 1997, after which he conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Geneva (1997–1998) and Duke University (1998–2000). He joined IIT Bombay as an Assistant Professor in 2001, was promoted to Associate Professor in 2004, and attained the rank of full Professor in 2009. He has also held a number of prominent administrative positions within the institute, serving as Associate Dean for R&D (2013–2015), Institute Chair Professor (2014–2020), Head of the Department of Chemistry (2016–2017), and Dean of Faculty Affairs (2018–2021). Since 2018, he has additionally served as Dean of Strategy. Professor Kaliappan is widely recognized for his outstanding contributions to the fields of reaction development and total synthesis, and we would be truly honored to have him join us for this lecture.
