Title: Synthesizing Novel Fluorinated Molecules by Adding Fluorine and Removing Fluorine
Dr. Tsui is an organic chemist at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). After receiving his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the University of Guelph in Canada, he obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto under the supervision of Professor Mark Lautens. He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research as a Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellow with Professor Benjamin List at the Max Planck Institute for Coal Research in Germany. In 2015, he began his independent career at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2022, a position he currently holds.
His research focuses on organofluorine chemistry and the development of new synthetic methodologies based on catalytic reactions. In this lecture, he will present strategies for the synthesis of novel fluorinated molecules. We warmly invite those who are interested to attend.
