Title: New Avenues in Cyclase Phase Total Synthesis
Dr. Schuppe is an organic chemist at Vanderbilt University in the United States. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Texas at Austin and obtained his Ph.D. from Yale University under the supervision of Professor Timothy Newhouse. He subsequently carried out postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with Professor Stephen Buchwald as a Beckman and NIH Fellow. In 2022, he began his independent career at Vanderbilt University, where he currently holds his position.
His research focuses on the development of carbon–carbon bond-forming reactions using transition-metal catalysis, as well as the total synthesis of complex natural products. In particular, his work aims at the rapid construction of bioactive molecules based on asymmetric catalysis and multistep synthesis.
In this lecture, he will present new strategies in total synthesis. We warmly invite those who are interested to attend.
